Table showing cricket players, their points scored on July 21st, and total cumulative points, with rankings from 1 to 18.

The first rapid play event of the season took place last night, Monday 21st July, and saw an incredible turnout—thank you to everyone who participated!

A special thanks goes to Bob McDonald for stepping in to run the event at short notice, after personal circumstances prevented Rob from attending.

After four rounds of exciting and competitive chess, the standings are in. Congratulations to Maks Mickus, who delivered a flawless performance with 4 out of 4 wins, placing him at the top of the leaderboard!

You can find the current leaderboard and an explanation of the points system used below.

The second rapid play event will be held later in the autumn—stay tuned for the announcement!

Explanation of the scoring system

A player's score is calculated as a percentage of their success in the total number of games played e.g. a score of 3 out of 4 = a score of 75 (%) plus the number of games played (4) = 79

Byes are not counted, but if a player withdraws early from the event, or misses a round when they should have been available to play, then their score is calculated as if they had played that game and lost it.

To encourage participation but without requiring participation in all events, we are only counting a certain number of events, and those with the highest scores for each player. This will be calculated as follows:

Table comparing number of evening events held with the number of scores to include, showing data for 1 to 4 events and corresponding scores.
